Hello! Welcome to Hands Of Serenity, I’m Chrissi Guerin. It’s nice to meet you, please allow me to introduce myself and share my journey with you.

I've been a Dragon Reiki Practitioner since March 2011 and a Licensed Massage Therapist since March 2013. I became a Student of Healing Touch Therapy, completing Levels 1, 2 and 3 in 2013 and 2014.

​

In August 2015 I earned the title Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist (CPMT) through The Liddle Kidz™ Foundation. This certification better trained me to provide massage for children ages 12 months to 18 years – whether they are a-okay and just stressing from day-to-day things or if they are hospitalized due to a severe illness.

In December 2016 I began renewing my knowledge, understanding and use of American Sign Language (ASL) through an online course via International Open Academy. My hope is to help those who are deaf, Deaf, or hard of hearing feel comfortable with someone trying to understand and communicate with them through their language.

​

In September 2017 one of my best friends suddenly died.  Her death caused a shift in my focus on what I wanted to do with my services. I began specializing in End-of-Life Massage Therapy as well as other End-of-Life Services.

In March 2019 I took a course offered by Final Touch Training© (created by Susan Gee and Cindy Spence) in Hospice/End-of-Life Massage (EOLMT). I learned how to offer gentle touch, improve my active listening skills and how to best provide support during what is often a stressful time for most people. Those on hospice need non-medical touch now and again to help soothe their body, mind and spirit as they draw closer to the threshold of life and death. Those who are caretakers can often use some gentle touch as well to relieve the stress they are feeling.

In June 2019 I became an Ordained Minister through Universal Life Church. This seemed a logical addition in order to more fully support my clients body, mind and spirit. While I was born and raised Lutheran and am grateful for that upbringing, I have grown to believe that there is a piece of truth in most every religion and I have respect for them. In June 2020, to further my knowledge in End-of-Life Care, I completed and passed a certification course in what is becoming known as a Death Doula.  I will be helping people plan for a “good death,” whatever that may mean to them. One of the most important things may simply be helping someone talk with their loved ones to let them know what their wishes are.

​

Furthering that training even more, in August 2020 I completed an accelerated course in Death Companioning offered through The School of American Thanatology taught by The American Thanatologist, Cole Imperi. The Death Companioning course helped expand my abilities in becoming a public educator in dying and death.  I look forward to hosting workshops and a Death Café, giving people safe spaces to talk about dying, death, grief and bereavement.

Previously established clients can still reach out to schedule some of my original services such as Swedish Massage and Bamboo-Fusion© Massage, but I am not looking for new clients in that respect. I Thank You for understanding and respecting that decision.

​

I am seeking clients who want to provide gentle, non-medical touch for their loved ones who are on palliative care, hospice care or even very near their end of life. I am seeking clients who need someone non-medical to just sit with their loved one at home while they take time to take care of themselves (respite care). I am seeking clients who want to put their wishes in writing for end-of-life care such as a DNR or DNI.
